May It Rest In Peace... :(

My watch just died... sniff sniff... I am so sad... It is one of my favourite watches and just suddenly one day the hour digit refused to appear... Sent it back for repair hoping it can be repaired but yesterday I got a call saying that it cannot be repaired... :( Sniff sniff...

This watch is a Fossil by Phillipe Starck design. It is called a bracelet watch. Designed in 2003 by Philippe Starck for Fossil. Started sales in 2004 if I am not mistaken. It is one of my most unique watches to date. Reason being is that it looks more like a bangle than a watch. Most ppl dont notice that it is a watch until they notice me looking at it constantly for the time and they would ask me is that a watch? Even when they are told it is a watch it takes them some getting used to before being able to tell the time... I like it for its looks and its weight actually. Most ppl complain that it is heavy but I happen to like the weight. This watch is part of a collection designed by Starck which includes a Necklace watch and a ring watch... I only bought the bracelet watch though... Dont need so many time pieces on me... hehe!!

This watch has served me well for the past 2 years.. Got it for my birthday present from my sisters... I dictated the present actually.. hehe!! When I first saw it I was hooked.. Had to have it... so since my birthday was around the corner I ask for it as a birthday present.. :)

So sad... now it no longer functions... There is a 2 year warranty for a one-for-one replacement on this watch but I have misplaced the warranty card so Fossil is still considering whether to take it as a warranty or not.. Either way I wont be getting the same watch back coz it is out of production already.. they will just replace it with one of similar value... :(

Anyway... it deserves a mention on my blog coz I really really liked this watch a lot... Sniff sniff.. I am still sad everytime I think of it and of the fact that it no longer functions fully... :( May it rest in peace... now it is just barely surviving with just the minutes digit on display....

I Did It!!!

Yaay Yaay!!! I completed the MPSJ 10km run!!! Plus I did it within qualifying time.... I completed is 68 mins... not too shabby huh? hehe!!!
I was so sleepy the morning that i woke up... luckily got some morning wishes to perk me up... haha!! Was getting calls left right and center from my colleagues asking me whether I have arrived... Officially we had to be there at 6am.. Ungodly hour right? But the flag off for running is only at 7.30am so I decided to go at about 6.30am.... Unfortunately all my colleagues were there by 6am and i was being rushed.. Okay Okay.... coming coming...
Got there… reported ourselves.. had a warm up session with Reebok… Then off to the starting line we went… Then they flagged us off and you could see drones and drones of ppl invading the streets as if our grandfather owns it… haha!!
Total participants surpassed the 5000 mark which was above and beyond their expectations… There was the 3km fun run, the 5km disabled run, 7 km veteran and teenage run and the 10km open run… I unfortunately only qualify for the 10km so 10km it is la..
Run Run Run….. wah… a bit tired already leh… Look at watch… 5 minutes only.. Aiyo kenot stop yet.. paiseh… Run Run Run…. Really tired already wor… 10 mins only… kenot stop kenot stop!!! So right ahead the summit traffic light, okay… run til there then can stop… run run run… reached… stopped running… haha!! Walk la for now… tired la.. only 12 mins have passed… paiseh paiseh… Aaron also stopped along… Sean stopped earlier on… Waah… uphill leh… cham lor cham lor.. walk a bit more la… walk walk walk… okay, reach traffic light I start running again… run run run… tired back again la.. waah…steep uphill run… not so good… strategy… walk uphill..dun waste energy.. so walk walk walk… okay…reaching peak.. downhill now… Run run run!!! Weee!! Downhill..easy peasy… haha!! But still tiring la.. reach flat ground stop and walk first… catch my breath and start running again… eh… there is this yellow t-shirt girl for Taylor college and this blue t-shirt girl ahead of me… I run then I pass them.. stop to walk then they pass me back.. okay la..mark them as target… hehe!!
So on I went… run run run… then walk walk walk… There was so many uphills runs… Jeez… whoever who chose the route must have been sadistic…. Finally I was approaching the final turn…. It was one final uphill climb, a U-turn and a short run on the stadium track to the finish line…. Upon making the U-turn I started running…. Run Run Run…. (imagine this song which they always play when ppl run wan… I kenot remember the title… the one that everything starts going in slow motion to follow the music… hehe!! ) so finally I could see the finish line… Just a bit more AiChin… run ai chin… Yess!!!!! I have completed the grueling 10km run… in 68 minutes… Managed to shave 12 minutes off my previous record and finished it within the pre-set qualifying time of 75 mins…
I didn’t get a medal unfortunately but I did get a certificate of merit.. :D I was so lucky… They were supposed to give out certs to all those that qualify but somehow or rather they only had 100 certs and I was No.100…. Luck was on my side…:)
Rested for awhile and not much later Aaron completed the run..… he actually called out my name when I was about to enter the stadium… he was on the other side of the road before the U-turn…:)
We were so de-hydrated… we went straight to the 100 Plus line and grabbed 2 cups… 100 Plus has never tasted better…. Such a thirst quencher….but it still wasn’t enough… So we lined up for Milo next…. Also gulped down 2 cups… by then we were feeling much better…. Time to look for Sean… went over to the finish line and saw him just finishing… 3 successful finishes from IMSB….
Will we do it again… maybe… probably… though I did swear the last time that, that would be the first and last time I did it… goes to show.. Never say never…

Rare Gathering....14 July 2007

Ya ya.... it's a bit outdated... okay okay... extremely outdated.... Oh well.... not my fault... I just got the pictures today.... and it is the pictures which will prove how rare such a gathering is... Let me give you a preview...
This one not so rare....

Tadaa.... recognize them? Nope huh? Let me conduct an introduction.... From left to right: Nada+ Shaemala, Joon Ling+Kuang Horng, Tseng Yang+Elaine.... Yup... all in pairs... part of the polymer family... Shaemala and Tseng Yang excluded la.. they are extended families... hehe!! Why this picture not so rare? Well we try to meet every few months or not... okay maybe every half year or so but we do meet... So that is why it is not so rare... This time round, we went to Laundry for drinks then proceeded to Sanctuary for more drinks...

Here comes the surprise....

Now this is the extremely rare gathering... this photo can almost be considered an endangered species... haha!! Elaine, Feb and I....The last time we had such a photo was 4 years ago in Uni I think... we did meet one time between then and now and that was midway 2 years ago at Feb's wedding but we didnt take a photo then..... So this is really a rare photo.... it happens one every 4 years like a leap year... haha!! no la... just never really gotten to meeting up... I meet up with Elaine quite often... Feb occasionally but never both at the same time... hehe!!

So this time was actually by chance... Nada asked whether we wanted to meet up for a clubbing session.. First time i assure you... we usually go makan or karaoke... I was shocked when he said clubbing... haha!! so a few days before this i met up with Feb to visit Kiat Lian's coz she went for a knee surgery... So I mentioned this gathering and when the word clubbing popped out... There is nothing stopping Feb la... She brought Chew along but so far pictures with him were not sent yet... shall add them on when i get them....

Chew got pissed drunk this time round... surprising though... Usually he could really hold his liquor... or at least that is what i have always thought la.. He made frens with the table next door... started drinking with them... he was actually cunning enough not to drink most of the liquor they forced him to put in his mouth but instead let it drip/flow out when the guy wasnt looking... his shirt drank quite a lot...So i really couldn't comprehend how he got drunk... maybe it was because he was on an empty stomach....Mystery still unsolved... haha!! But Feb was real angry at him.. Oopsss.....

But in the end we had fun... It was a good gathering...didnt do much... just talked a lot at Laundry before we went up to the santuary... it was nice... :D Will try to arrange more of such gatherings.... Here are the rest of the pictures....

The girls....
Cheers.....
Sheamala, Elaine, Me & Feb... :D

Buying Presents for Guys Vs Girls

Went shopping with my good fren last Sunday.... Was shopping for a present for her boyfriend... (oops...hopes her bf doesnt read my blog... dun think so la since even she herself dun read it)... So anyway... we were trying to look for a sling bag for him to carry to work.. Not those kind we used to carry to school ones.. Something a but more matured/professional looking but not old man looking....

Criteria:

1. Must be Sling

2. Preferably Leather

3. Must be able to fit in A4 size papers/file

4. Must have sufficient space (not the slim type)

5. Must be in Portrait style not Landscape...

Waaah... aisey ma... these criteria not so easy to fit leh... dont you think? Especially the last one... In most cases... sling bags for men are always in Landscape.... right?

So we started searching and while we were looking we starting talking about men complaining how difficult it is to buy presents for girls...

All guys say that buying presents for guys are easier than buying presents for girls... How NOT TRUE can that be? Buying presents for girls are way easier than buying presents for guys... Afterall the market is catered mainly for girls. Right? Let list a bit:

Gifts for girls:

1. Jewellery

2. Watch

3. Handbag/purse

4. Clothes

5. Ornamental stuff

6. Soft toys

7. Gadgets

8. Flowers

9. A romantic dinner

10. Chocolates

11. Strawberries

12. Chocolate covered strawberries...

13. Tickets to a musical/play

14. Something related to her hobby....

etc... The list just goes on and on and on.. and within each items there is also a varied amout/type that you can get....

Gifts for guys:

1. Watch

2. Wallet

3. Belt

4. Clothes

5. Gadgets (only if you are rich)

6. Collector's toys

7.Something related to his hobby la..

8. Accesories (if he is metrosexual)

and the cycle repeats itself... haha!!! Limited la... it all revolves around certain things only... and to make things worse, I think men are even more picky about the things they like... susah susah....

Not only is choices limited... the good stuff or the stuff they really like are always super expensive...

Why is it so unfair that girls stuff are always cheaper than guys stuff when guys stuff are harder to find...Something is seriously wrong here... Lets analyze...

Things that cost more when they are for men:

1- Watch

Bigger in size thus need more material? Maybe true... More components... Dun think so...

2- Clothes (same brand and type)

More fabric required? Maybe... More man hours needed? Dun think so....

3- Wallet

More Compartments? Dun think so... Better leather? Dun think so too..

4- Bags/Handbags

Larger in size? Dependant on design... better material? Dont think so...

5- Toys/Collectors Items

More expensive material? Dun think so... Less units made? Possible... boys will be boys... always collecting the limited ones...

6- Accessories

Larger size? Could be... More material used? Could be too....

7- Hobby stuff

Somehow or rather, men's hobbies are always more expensive than girls... I just cant explain why....

Anyway... I am sure you get my point.... So I still dun get it when guys complain they dun know what to buy... They are spoilt for choice and lucky them, most stuff dun cost that much too.... So why make it more difficult for us by having even more criteria... aiyo... You try finding a sling bag in portrait style that is stylish and yet functional... Good thing not my bf... haha!!

But in the end we did buy the bag... not 100% fitting to the criteria... but too bad... gf buy wan you still need to like... right? Now that is the only good thing about it all.. No matter how bad our choices are... you guys still need to accept the gift with a smile and look as if you sincerely like it...haha!! Same goes for girls la but I think girls can get by merajuking.... haha!! ;)

Something Meaningful...

My fren forwarded this to me today... I just find the story really nice so I decided to share it on my blog....

To All Married Couples and Singles Who Intend To Get Married

When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly.Again I observed the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce.
I raised the topic calmly. She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn't talkto each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer, she had lost my heart to a lovely girl called Dew. I didn't love her anymore..I just pitied her!
With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Dew so dearly.
Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.
The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn't have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Dew. When Iwokeup, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again.
In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but needed a month's notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal alifeas possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a months time and she did'nt want to disrupt him with our broken marriage. This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day. She requested that everyday for the month's duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.
I told Dew about my wife s divorce conditions. She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully.
My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mummy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly, don't tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.
On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest.. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realised she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.
On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn't tell Dew about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.
She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily. Suddenly it hit me, .. she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reache dout and touched her head. Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it's time to carry mum out.To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential partof his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly, it was just like our wedding day. But her much lighter weight made me sad.
On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn't noticed that our life lacked intimacy.I drove to office... jumped out of the car swiftly without locking thedoor. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind... I walked upstairs. Dew opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Dew, I do not want the divorce anymore. She looked at me, astonished. Then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Dew, I said, I won't divorce.
My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of our lives, not because we didn't love each otheranymore. Now I realise that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart. Dew seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.
At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote:I'll carry you out every morning until death do us apart.
The small details of our lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property , the money in the bank,blah..blah..blah. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse's friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage! If you don't share this, nothing will happen to you, but if you do, you just might save a marriage.

Something Eww to share...hehe!!

Decided to post something eww today... haha!! I forgot to post my second experience on golf last weekend... Overall it was so so.. still same old same old performance.... But this time I was driving a bit straighter la.... But I still got a blister and at a different location... Now this is what I wanted to post about... hehe!! This is my blister when it first developed....

Not so obvious right? Well it was actually quite big... about a centimeter long... :( painful.... So I was patient for 3 days... let it dry up a bit and subside... Then I thought.. I had better peel it now so that it can fully dry-up and I can play again this weekend....

So I tore the blistered skin off... The skin underneath or more like flesh underneath was still a bit raw.. Probably a thin layer of new skin was forming... so I thought well.. okay.. its not too bad... But then something I didnt think would happen happened... :( While I was sleeping.. I dun know how I managed it but I stretched the area so much that the new skin burst open... Ouch!! yup.. it just split!! and now my poor blister looks like this.... Eww right? Looks like some diseased spot on my finger... and what is worse.. the split area is real painful... Owww... :( Because of this I am holding my finger out the whole time no matter what I am doing... So weird.. :( Hopefully it heals fast....

Taekwondo Training by Grand Master Park

Went to training yesterday... It was supposed to be a special session only for black belts as it was being conducted by Grand Master Park who is a 9th Dan Kukkiwon Black Belt from Korea... He is one of the 3 high Dan examiners in the world... He grades people from 6th Dan onwards only... Sadly, me still 3rd Dan... :(
The training session was scheduled from 7.30-10.00 pm.... I was a bit nervous being this was my first time attending such a training... I was imagining training to be as per normal training and this was getting me worried.. How am I suppose to last for 2 and a half hours of training.. Aiyo... so daunting... but I went for it anyway....
See see when the training started it was all amount basics... what are the basics of execution and why it is done so.. How to maximise your own force... I found this all quite interesting.. and certain things surprised me and it seems I have been doing it wrong for the past 15 years.. Paiseh... haha!! But I was disappointed it wasnt a full fledge training.. but then again he was 76 years old.. what would you expect...?
Then we went on to Poomsae... this was a bit draggy... we did it by numbers... then he explain each and every move and stance... then we did it on our own and he explained again... This continued on from Taeguek 1 all the way to Pwongwon which was the pattern for 4th Dan... They continued on with Shipjin but since I have not learned that yet I was spared...
All in all the training session ended at 11.35 pm!!!! Can you imagine that? Then it continued with grading for those lucky few whose time was just right for an upgrade that they got graded by grand master Park himself...
By the time I got home it was already past 12am and i had to wake up at 5.30am the following day.. :( Which is today la..was like a zombie the entire morning.
Anyway... it was quite an insightful training.... will post the group photo once I get it.. and maybe my certificate of participation as well.. ;)

Clarins anyone?

Those who are Clarins user.... quickly make a bee line to Parkroyal Hotel today and tomorrow for a great deal... I just went this morning eventhough I wasnt a user... just because... no reason needed....
There was make-up, fragrances, skincare, sun-care and men's skincare... All going for a steal... there is even a limited section whereby stock is extremely limited but they are going for real cheap so it is on a first come first serve basis..
I also got tempted into buying a set for myself...God!! I am such a sucker... big huge colourful lollipop... haha!! Oh well, I admit that I am... *shy* Was suppose to just go there buy what my sister wanted as her birthday present and look see look see... but obviously just look see look see didnt do it for me.. so I ended up buying.. bought some cute make-up too... eyeshadow...they were like water colour tubes (those metal-type ones... real old school) which you unscrew the caps and just squeeze... and apply.. so cute.. so cool...hehe!! couldnt resist... bought 4 colours... :D
All in all set myself back about RM370... :( Rm150 for my sister's stuff... and the balance was all me.. :( RM 70 for make-up and RM100 for the set... oops... overspent this month again... Actually I paid less Rm20 coz the cashier miscalculated... She first over-charged... then I told her it was not right, so she double checked and found the mistake and re-calculated manually... she made a mistake and I pointed it out to her but she still looked and say "ya! correct la" so I kept quiet... Ya, I was asked why did I even bother correcting her.. after all it is added advantage to me... but that is just me.. too truthful... I just cant bring myself to cheat someone knowing that they would get in trouble for it afterwards.... I presume that if at the end of the day they found that discrepancy, the cashier in charge will be required to fork out the difference.. Then it is just plain not nice of me to make her lose money to benefit me right?
So anyway.... was quite a fruitful albeit broke morning... haha!! but this is what ppl call retail therapy right?
So what are you waiting for? Get you butt to Parkroyal Hotel...!!!

4. Who is going to teach you?
5. Who are you going to play with? ...etc
Basically I think he just didnt want me underfoot while he was enjoying his game... so fast forward 13 years later and he has just retired... Finally he got time to teach me, and coincidentally have all the right equipments as well... Hopefully I will be able to play well.. keeping my fingers crossed... Me dun like not excelling... It is just not me to not do well if I put my mind to it.. and it has been a lifelong (okay...maybe lifelong is a bit too melodramatic.. but you get my drift...) dream to pick this game up... I still dun know whether I will really like it enough to continue to learn and play but at this point, I am still enthusiastic.... :D
We shall see then shall we? ;)

Hehe!!! sounds cool huh? Well I had my first driving range experience last Sunday... but before I start on that, let me go back a few days.....

It all started last weekend when my dad proposed that we go to the driving range... then he realized that I did not have any gloves so he postpone our session... few days later he went looking for my aunty to get me a pair of gloves...
My aunty was so happy that I was picking up the game that she gave these to my dad to pass to me...
hehe!! cool huh? Srixon Visor... Srixon Gloves... Srixon T-shirt... but the ultimate is this....
My very own Srixon XX10 8 Iron... hehe!! cool huh? Aunty says if I like this iron then she will give me the rest of the whole set... hehe!! double cool!!! So even before I learn how to play I am already a Srixon sponsored golfer.. haha!! Tak ada mutu pun mesti ada gaya first right? haha!!
So now that I am all equipped to play lets continue on to my driving range experience...
Sunday afternoon... I looked at my dad and said.. "So when are we going to the driving range?" He said we could go now so off we went to the driving range which was just a few km away from my house...
He taught me the basics on how to grip and how to swing... how to square the iron head... Then put me to hit my first ball... Managed to hit it... dun play play.. did not hit an airball... but it didnt go far la.. bout 30 mtrs or so... but it was swerving to the right instead of going straight... hmm... not so go...whacked a few more and still the same... Got corrected here and there on my stance and the swing... Balls were sometimess flying low.. no so good... and some were high... much better... overall not very consistent... haha!!
Finally after bout 50 balls or so I was getting the hang of it.. still hit some airballs... (a few only mind you... :p) but mostly landed around the 50 mtrs mark... so not too bad.. I asked my dad what was the average distance.. he said for girls around 80-100 mtrs.. and for guys about 120-130 mtrs.... and my dad demonstrated... Fuiyoo!!! it went 130 mtrs easily.. hmmph... my dad showing off... haha!!
Well i continued to hit...some not so consistant... then my dad insisted i hit straight... so I said i try.. held my iron inwards a bit instead of squaring it then I tried... hmm... much straighter... haha!! so continue to hold it inwards and the ball just went straighter... conclusion to self.. I am weird but if holding it inwards helps... why not right? hehe!!
The last 20 hits or so were great... managed to go about 70 mtrs or so... I am quite proud of myself..hehe!! ;)
Daddy's overall conclusion... I got potential... haha!! He says for a first timer who has never ever hit a ball before... I was quite good.. my average percentage of airballs were 10%.... so that is way better than quite a few first timers and being able to hit a distance of 70 mtrs on my first session was considered not too bad too!! Yaaay!!!
Next session target... 100 mtrs.. and straight!!
When you say? this coming weekend of course... !!! hehe!! So I shall be updating my progress quite often... :)
Got another surprise gift in store.. havent yet taken a picture of it but I will give you this... I will definitely be the most stylish first timer you have seen... ;) hehe!!
