My latest indulgence....

CUPPACAKES!!!

What are they? pretty cupcakes!!! hehe!! At least that is what I think of them... They just open a cafe in Uptown called "Cuppacakes by Wondermilk"... They just have these gorgeous cupcakes... some of them look too pretty to eat... hehe!!!

The cupcakes in the shop for daily sales arent as nice as the ones in the pictures above la.. they are still pretty but not so elaborate... but it is real cool that they customize.... But with nice pretty stuff, comes a pretty price too!! The mini cupcakes which are only an inch in diameter are Rm1 each while the larger ones which are about 2.5 inch in diameter are Rm3.80 each for ordinary flavours and RM4.50 each for premium flavors... With packagings comes additional cost...

One thing that I feel is cool is they have this standard packaging of 49 mini cupcakes which can be customized with msg or any design for RM50 per box.. they look like a birthday cake made of cupcakes.. so convenient right? After sing song, blow candle, just tell everyone to take a cup..no need to cut or distribute... hehe!!

This is the one I bought... RM5.50 inclusive of box.. pretty?

I dont know why but since I found this shop... I have been on a cupcake craze.. have eaten so many cupcakes in the past 2 weeks.. all the sugar (it is super sweet).... Must be why I am chirpy this week... on a sugar high... haha!!! Just couldnt resist.. hope this doesnt last long or I will be fat!! haha!!

For more details... you can visit www.cuppacakes.blogspot.com (pictures above except for the last one is from their flickr album linked to the site...)

So Cute!!!

Look look... the cows are just so adorable.. hahah!! couldnt resist... saw this poster at HSBC last night.... it just simply made me smile... so cute the little Moo Moos... hehe!!!

I think the person who thought of this is smart... an advert which catches ppl's attention irregardless whether they were looking or interested is a sign of a good advert... ;)

Opportunist...

Remember the giant billboard that says...

Well, look again... there is an addition to the billboard now...
It says...

Look at the newly added new fine(not so fine) prints... hehe!!

The ppl at Love Diamond must have recognized their ring box and decided this is a good opportunity to advertise at a low cost... Tell the fella we give him a discount on the ring or even the ring free and in return, he adds our logo and message on the billboard which will be up for a whole month... they would have saved at least RM26k in marketing expense... hahah!! smart la.. Such opportunistic ppl!!

Election in definitely around the corner....

I attended the opening ceremony of the new MAA office in Kelana Jaya this morning... Rafidah Aziz was the guest of honour.... and guess what? At the end of her speech, she did a mini campaign for BN... She went on to say that only the government/BN will support the growth of ppl and the industries as they have always done through the years... Told everyone that giving more seats to the opposition to in her words "Check and Balance" the governing body would only hurt ourselves in return... Choose to "Check & Balance" and be "Checked" in the end.... Not giving BN the majority win will only result in a not so strong hold on governing as a whole... If she or other candidates loses the election, they will just go home and have their 'pencen' to live off whereas for the rest of us there (the automotive industry/companies) we will still need to go on with or without the right support from the government.... So if we wanted thriving industry with the governments support, we should vote BN.

Wow... this is actually the first time I have heard a campaign speech... being that I dont really bother about politics, this is an eye opener... Quite amusing i must say... haha!! Seems like BN is real worried this time around...
Think they should when you pass this billboard along LDP...
Before.....
After....
Whether it was done by the opposition or by his own party or even by himself... nobody knows... One this is for sure.... the battle rages on... :)

Fish Spa anyone????

Read about this place in the Sunday papers about a week or so ago... Ai Li had a go... so this time around... since we had nothing to do during the CNY holidays... Ai Li, Ai May, my mum and I decided to give it a try as well.... The place was on the 5th floor of Pavilion....

Looks seemingly innocent enough....

The very much talked about fish spa....

Inside the place... ppl happily sitting down looking at their feet being bitten....

A nice cozy corner with an outside view.....

Pretty legs all in a row....

Okay... now we have had the preview.... let me explain a little about the fish spa treatment itself... Well the fishes used are Garra Rufa fishes which are imported from Turkey... they are known as 'Doctor Fish' to some... It's like a sort of exfoliation whereby these little fishes would nibble on the dead/scaly skin on your feet leaving they smooth and soft... It is even said that the micro massage promotes blood circulation and eases proriasis and minor eczema...

For the act itself.... when it came to our turn we were led to a tank facing the window with the city view but after looking into the tank!! My gosh!! the fishies were huge!!! They I looked at the other tank... oh they were much smaller... I chickened out with Ai May and we went for the smaller fishes leaving my mum and Ai Li to the mercy of the large fishes... little did we know.. although smaller... there was much more of them!!! Eeeeekkkss!!!

Eeepps!!! My feet!! My feet!!! the first 5 minutes was torture.... i kept on lifting my feet out of the water every 10 secs or so... I was just squirming in my seat... you can really feel their nibbles... and it just feels ticklish and ewww... at first... but after you got the hang of it, it wasnt so bad....
Ai May's feet must be really dirty andn full of dead skin... the fishes swarmed her feel as if they were starved for a week!!!
Look at the size of that!!! I called this one an 'Ikan Kembung" coz it was literally the size of one... This sucker was permanent on me be it my left or right foot.. it just refused to go to anyone else's feet... dont know why... and when it nibbles... you can REALLY feel it... ewww... I had to sit there for 30 mins enduring his nibbles....

Trying to look as if we are enjoying outselves....

Even real men go for foot spa... haha!! the funny thing was that they were more worried than the women... while the women all stopped squirming after awhile these guys kept their feel constantly close to the surface and kept on lifting it up throughout 30 mins... Tough men huh? hahah!!!

Well for sure, this is definitely not for the faint hearted... but if you are curious, I would recommend you try it out... just for the fun of it... RM38 for a 30 mins session isnt too bad... would I go again? Maybe... would I make it a habit? I think not!!! The sight of the fishes nibbling on you and feeling them between your toes is not something you get used too... haha!!!

Family Dinner @ Oriental Pavilion

As always... after coming back from both our grandparents place my family always had our own little private reunion dinner... Just the 5 of us plus my bro-in-law.... This year we went to Oriental Pavilion in Jaya 33 for our dinner since it was highly recommended by Ai Li.... After the dinner... we agreed full heartedly.... It was good......

The entrance....
Hallway leading to some private rooms....
Our first dish... combination of 'char siew' & 'siew yok' with braised toufoo... this dish is yummy!! even the toufoo was really tasty....
Next up.... Peking duck (the skin portion)... Ooooh.... this dish was so so so so yummy... skin was crispy and not fat...wish the duck was bigger so we could have more skin... utterly scrumptious....
Next... braised homemade toufoo with spinach.... this was also one tasty dish... the toufoo was so soft and the spinach lent a nice flavour to it....
Stir-fried kailan.... we ordered stir-fried 'choy sum' as well but that didnt look as pretty so I didnt take a picture of it... this dish was normal as all vegetable dishes go...
Now this dish is special... Baked cod fish with chinese herbs... this was served individually on a huge spoon-like serving dish... the herbs were just nice and not too overbearing... the only bad things about it.... everyone only got one small piece.. :(

Final dish of the night was the fried noodles with duck (the other half of the Peking duck dish)... this one really surprised us all... as I am sure everyone has had a bad experience with Peking Duck whereby the second dish is always too 'ducky' tasting or tasteless... Well this noodle was really tasty without the ducky taste... thumbs up for the chef...

All in all it was a really good dinner... for a CNY dinner for 6 the bill came up to RM303... not too bad I think and with Jusco Card you get an additional 10% off so we only paid RM273.... With the quality of food and a total of 7 dishes put together it was relatively reasonable...

After dinner we walked to the huge MBG fruit stall at the ground floor of Jaya 33.... This stall has all kinds of fruits... varieties you can find nowhere else but they would have it from dates to nectarines to cherries... they had it all... but something caught out eye... this huge Apple of supposed Japanese breed.... the size is huge... since all of us were full we decided our dessert with be one apple for 6 person.. mind you the apple cost RM22.50 each... haha!!

A closer view....

Well... we ate the apple when we got home... no surprise... it tasted like.... APPLE!!! haha!!! nothing special... should have just bought the RM0.70 each ones instead... haha!! but it was the sheer size of it that made it special...

All in all it was a really nice family dinner.... :)

Reunion Dinner.....

Happy CNY!!! As usual I went back to Singapore for my family's reunion dinner... Left KL at 1400hrs and arrived at about 19hrs... considering it was during the festive season, traffic was quite good actually... unfortunately dinner started extra early this year and they started without us...:( luckily we were not far behind... hehe!!!
As a tradition on my mum's side, the reunion dinner is always cooked by the siblings (being my uncles and auntie) and mostly the dishes we cooked by my uncles... yup... tradition dictates that the men goes into the kitchen during CNY... hahah!! But they are all great cooks....
Look at what I had for dinner....
17 dishes for a dinner for 17 person... just nice... each one gets one dish... hehe!! As usual, my reunion is always taken standing around the table with a bowl in hand and a pair of chopsticks to grab whatever we wanted to eat!! Yummy!!!
We had 2 soups... one sharksfin soup...(yummilicious!!! My fav but by the time I got there very little was left... ), abalone soup... chicken stuffed with glutinous rice, braised abalone, braised mushrooms with 'fatt choy', prawn fritters, prawn fritters with seaweed and beancurd skin, sweet and sour fish, assorted vege, beef&pork wraped around japanese pickled cucumbers, pork and chicken 'kao zhi' (compliments of my soon to be cousin-in-law from China), some mix vegetarian dish, fried leek with chinese sausages, sweet and sour fish maw & sea cucumber, braised pork trotters and fried meehoon.... Waah... by the end of the meal... we were too full to talk, sit or stand.... hahah!!! It was all good!!!

Need to claim insurance?

Heheh!! This is something hilarious which happened to me yesterday... but first things first... let me give you some background... hehe!! My Eldest sister Ai May has been in Singapore for 15 years or so now.. Since she got the Asean Scholarship and so on.... she stayed on, married a Singaporean etc.... hence from the day she moved to Singapore she never had any access to a car except for when she comes back to Malaysia for short holidays... Being like most Singaporeans, mode of transport consist of the MRT and Taxis which are so convenient over there... Her husband is also likewise and being that half his career was spent in China, there is even less reason why they should get a car...
However, a couple of months ago they decided to buy a car... A Honda Civic no less.. (car there cheap ma... 70K++ for a civic.... cheap right?) So they book for a car... my bro-in-law went for a refresher course... (hey, he got his license 20 years ago and never drove since then...) and last month, they got their hands on their car...
So now that you know a bit of history... let me clue you in on the conversation which transpired yesterday.... (AM: Ai May and AC: Ai Chin)

AM: Hello, Ai Chin ar?
AC: Yes?
AM: My husband knock the car again.. he knock the side mirror... and now there is this black line on it... how do I get it off?
AC: What did he knock it against?
AM: The CashCard slot machine la.. he estimate wrongly and scratched the side mirror.. now got this black like.. how do I get it off?
AC: Erm... firstly... is the black like residue from the machine or is it your paint which is scratched off? Is it an indentation?
AM: Ya... it's an indentation...
AC: Means scratched off ler.. nothing you can do unless you want to spray it back ler...
AM: Huh? Means I need to spray my whole car ar?
AC: No no!! Just spray the side mirror...
AM: We were thinking need to claim insurance liao.... spray whole car...
AC: Haha!! No need no need..... just spray the side mirror.. no need to spray whole car... but then no one sends their car in to just spray a side mirror la.. either way if you wanna spray also it should cost less than SGD100 la..
AM: Oh oh... okay. We plan to ask them to spray when we send for first service 1000km...
AC: Okay okay..up to you... should be quick..
AM: Nolar... we are still slightly over 100km after 1 month... and this is the second accident liao...
AC: Where did you knock...?
AM: Him la!!! He reversed into a wall..
AC: No reverse sensor meh?
AM: Got but then he thought still can go so he went.. then now got some white lines... Think the wall rubbed off on it..
AC: If just the wall rub off possible can polish la..
AM: Okay okay.. send car for polish...
AC: Okay la.. that's all right?
AM: Ya ya.. that's all...
AC: Bubye..
AM: Bye Bye..

Heheh!!! I wonder sometimes.. are ordinary ppl really so ignorant when it comes to car? I am not insulting my sister but I realised that sometimes when you hear ppl talk about cars.. it cracks you up with the funny things which ppl think of... like my first accident where the guy was telling to tell me that since he knock one spot all I need to do is spray one spot and not the entire door... or like my sis... scratch one side mirror spray whole car.... A spray shop was even trying to con me with a lousy spray job saying that it is the norm... or my mum not believing me when I said her car was leaking... her whole rear legroom was wet down to the carpet but she kept on saying it must be one of the water bottle which was leaking.. Toyota wor.. kenot possibly leak...(hello... even if it was it should only be one side and not both sides right?)... Small small things which for me being in the automotive industry is like basic knowledge is beyond their comprehension or understanding... hmm....
Not forgetting this perception that you buy insurance to keep not to claim... everyone is advising me not to claim my bumper or I would lose my NCD... hmm... firstly... the total claim came up to RM2k++ which I thought was worth it to claim.. plus this being the second time I claimed... I would have already lost my NCD for the first year anyway.... (there is also a perception that if you lose your NCD, you will lose it for the lifespan of the vehicle... which is not true...)... so why not claim right? nothing to lose... plus I do not pay excess so it is totally FOC... (older generations always thinks there is excess and it is not worth it to claim... like my mum etc)....
Anyway... it just tickles me to think of my sister telling the spray shop that she wants to spray the whole car because she scratched her side mirror... or even submitting an insurance claim to respray the whole car coz she scratched the side mirror... hee hee!!!
