Family Dinner @ Oriental Pavilion

As always... after coming back from both our grandparents place my family always had our own little private reunion dinner... Just the 5 of us plus my bro-in-law.... This year we went to Oriental Pavilion in Jaya 33 for our dinner since it was highly recommended by Ai Li.... After the dinner... we agreed full heartedly.... It was good......

The entrance....
Hallway leading to some private rooms....
Our first dish... combination of 'char siew' & 'siew yok' with braised toufoo... this dish is yummy!! even the toufoo was really tasty....
Next up.... Peking duck (the skin portion)... Ooooh.... this dish was so so so so yummy... skin was crispy and not fat...wish the duck was bigger so we could have more skin... utterly scrumptious....
Next... braised homemade toufoo with spinach.... this was also one tasty dish... the toufoo was so soft and the spinach lent a nice flavour to it....
Stir-fried kailan.... we ordered stir-fried 'choy sum' as well but that didnt look as pretty so I didnt take a picture of it... this dish was normal as all vegetable dishes go...
Now this dish is special... Baked cod fish with chinese herbs... this was served individually on a huge spoon-like serving dish... the herbs were just nice and not too overbearing... the only bad things about it.... everyone only got one small piece.. :(

Final dish of the night was the fried noodles with duck (the other half of the Peking duck dish)... this one really surprised us all... as I am sure everyone has had a bad experience with Peking Duck whereby the second dish is always too 'ducky' tasting or tasteless... Well this noodle was really tasty without the ducky taste... thumbs up for the chef...

All in all it was a really good dinner... for a CNY dinner for 6 the bill came up to RM303... not too bad I think and with Jusco Card you get an additional 10% off so we only paid RM273.... With the quality of food and a total of 7 dishes put together it was relatively reasonable...

After dinner we walked to the huge MBG fruit stall at the ground floor of Jaya 33.... This stall has all kinds of fruits... varieties you can find nowhere else but they would have it from dates to nectarines to cherries... they had it all... but something caught out eye... this huge Apple of supposed Japanese breed.... the size is huge... since all of us were full we decided our dessert with be one apple for 6 person.. mind you the apple cost RM22.50 each... haha!!

A closer view....

Well... we ate the apple when we got home... no surprise... it tasted like.... APPLE!!! haha!!! nothing special... should have just bought the RM0.70 each ones instead... haha!! but it was the sheer size of it that made it special...

All in all it was a really nice family dinner.... :)
